Billecart Salmon was the winner of the 'Champagne of the Millennium' tasting which was organised by Richard Juhlin in Sweden in 1999, with their 1959 Cuvee Nicolas Francois and came 2nd with their 1961, beating all the other top vintages of the century such as 1964 Dom Perignon, 1961 Krug and 1952 Gosset. Juhlin is the author of the highly recommended book '4,000 Champagnes' in which he rates Billecart Brut Reserve as… "This is the creation of the son, Antoine Billecart. I claim this to be the best non-vintage Champagne of the extremely fruity school. The nose is lively and as fresh as a spring morning, the flavour is light and citrus-fresh with a long, balanced aftertaste of Granny Smith apples. Softer, sweeter, and more creamy recently".
